Are you stressing over the sounds "R" and "U"?
Would you be in seventh heaven if you were understanding what the French table next to yours is talking about?
A miscommunication or misunderstanding
is at best disappointing and
at worst a potential disaster.
The truth is you can pronounce French as it should and be understood by French speakers. All that requires is
an understanding of the basic French pronunciation and
a little bit of practice.
And you can do so, in the comfort of your own home and at your own pace.
Hi, my name is Brigitte! I have been a professional French teacher for over 14 years after having had to master English to survive for the past 40 years. When I started teaching my native language, I noticed that the basic corner stone missing in most French language learning books was the pronunciation.
That is when I understood that the key datum was: to have the pronunciation right, before you get into anything else.
Isn't it the way it is happening with our native language? For the first 4-5 years all you deal with are sounds. Then at age 5 you associate sounds and letters to be able to read and write.
Unfortunately this is not how, for the most part, schools teach us foreign languages. If you're like me, you usually end up understanding what's written but
to pronounce it correctly and understand it
when it is spoken is another matter.
This would not be so if you were learning how to pronounce it first.
So, I developed a French pronunciation method that will transform your French!
You will be taught all of the sounds of French.
You will learn how to make and use the sounds without the need to learn phonetics first.
You will practice these sounds until you are speaking clearly to the French ear.
You will understand French people and they will understand you!
I'll be straight with you, it will take you a little bit longer to grasp what you're hearing than pronouncing it correctly.
Knowing How to Pronounce French -
The Essentials Only
And inside, I am going to teach you how to tame the French pronunciation once and for all. You will no longer wonder if you need to round your lips, smile to your ears or close your nose, you'll be able to recognize right away the sound called for per the combination of letters and utter it in its simplicity.
Throughout my years of teaching French, I narrowed down what were the most difficult points for my students. The first one was pronunciation. It was no surprise for me since I know how the English language is not that easy and, how English speakers more often than not, butcher the French language. That’s because French has a few sounds that do not exist in English.
However, I knew it was possible to change that. In my teens I had taught French children to read so I knew what it took. Yes, French kids speak it but run into problems when they need to put the sounds into words. And, though it is inverse, this is the same kind of a problem a foreign speaking person encounters. They can see the letters but do not know the corresponding sound.
The next obstacle is the rhythm of the language. The good news is that the French language cadence is 100% easier to learn than the English language. So, you should thank your stars for being born an anglophone.
Let me tell you that, with the sounds and the rhythm under your belt, all you need to become a proficient French speaker is a little bit of practice.
You’ll understand the underlying rules of:
The French rhythm.
You’ll master the key sounds in French that make the difference.
Armed with that knowledge, you can definitely go to Paris and,
be able to understand what people are saying and,
get your communication across without confusion!
What a relief isn’t it? This is exactly what happened recently to one of my students who went to Paris on a business trip. He was happy to be understood and be able to understand what was being said.
ATTENTION
To start with, it’ll take you about eight weeks.
Of course, you can always run a marathon through it.
But frankly you’ll get a lot more mileage if you practice every day for one week the data delivered in each unit.
This is key, practice.
Each unit is going to provide you the new information you need to know for the week.
Then, you’ll be able to put the data into immediate practice by doing the exercises assigned to each lesson.
You will at the same time, discover some French culture that will help sharpen your emotional response to the cadence of the language and absorb it to your very core.
The course is built on a gradient and each week builds onto the other.
By the end of it you’ll feel confident that you know:
- How to pronounce French sounds,
- How to put them together and
- How to emulate the inflection which will make you sound like a French speaker.
All elements can be downloaded.
You’ll be able to drill on a specific difficulty you may have: You’re moving at your own pace.
The important point is that you feel confident that you are getting the data and are able to reproduce the French sound that will be understood.
At the same time, your understanding of spoken French, will skyrocket.
This course is for those who have some French basics but who know they don’t have the French pronunciation mastered, rather than brand-new beginners.
For those who have trouble understanding spoken French.
And for those who want to master their French pronunciation.
The course is delivered in French, though the transcripts are bilingual.
Some of the students who have already done it say:
“I would recommend the class, definitely. It’s a great exploration of the sounds of French and how to improve them. I thought I had a pretty good grasp of pronunciation and the “rules” but I learned something new every class.”
« Il s'agit d'une introduction complète à tous les sons du français. La prof est très détaillée et organisée. »
To the question: What part of the course did you enjoy the most? Students answered:
« Lire plusieurs lignes de texte. », « J’ai le mieux aimé les dictées. Elles sont un vrai reflet de votre niveau de français. ». « I most enjoyed doing the poems – reading through them gave us a chance to really work on the sounds we were making in normal sentences. »
